Meet The Dynamic Duo: A Return To History

To say that beauty from the ground up is part of Tony and Otoneil Lopez’s life would be an understatement. This father-and-son team knows their stuff, and they were thrilled to recently become the Master Gardeners for the Yung See San Fong House. It’s fortunate for the property that they love their work, because there is a lot of it to be done. Otoneil has worked in many different settings, from individual small firms to large corporate installations.

“He can do almost anything,” Tony says of his father — the son speaking with pride about a man who works hard and sees the beauty in everything he creates with nature.

We are in the process of restoring the garden to the Youngs’ original vision. To move forward, we first have to look backward.

The previous owner loved this garden and created acres of beautiful flowers and plants. Fed by the natural spring on the property, it burst into bloom each spring like a firework show; she planted tulips and countless other flowers with great delight. After her passing, however, and with the failure of the well’s water pump, much of that glory came to an end.

Tony and Otoneil’s current mission is to restore the garden to the Youngs’ original design. It’s said that the only thing the Youngs ever purchased for their dinner table was meat from the local butcher, because the rest of the land was bountiful and provided everything else they needed. They even made their own cheese in the “Cheese Room,” a cement structure built outside and designed to hold just the right temperature. Ultimately, we hope to grow upwards of 40 fruit trees and grape vines to bring this same level of garden-fresh delight to our property’s residents.

If you would like to have Tony and Otoneil Lopez take care of your property like they do the Yung See San Fong house, below is a scan of their business card. We hope you enjoy their services as much as we do.
